Dixie is the main character from the Jacqueline Wilson book The Diamond Girls. She is the youngest of the Diamond girls, and also is the narrator of the story. She believes that she has no talent or quality unlike her sisters, Martine, is her teenage, rebel sister, who’s pretty and willowy. Jude, is a brainy girl who’s clever and comes top in all her classes. Rochelle is very pretty with blonde curls and big blue eyes and she’s clever. But she is arrogant, boastful and selfish. Dreamy Dixie is small and skinny and was born prematurely. Her father is an embalmer called Terry, who got her mother Sue pregnant while she was arranging her boyfriend Jordan's funeral. Terry has another family with a wife called Stella and three young daughters. He rarely talks to Dixie or contacts her; however, at the end of the book he visits Dixie in hospital and says he wants to introduce her to her half-sisters. Dixie has a toy budgie called Bluebell, who she keeps up her cardigan sleeve. She befriends six-year-old Mary, who is abused by her mother, who is apparently suffering from depression.

Theory - Dixie died saving Mary. Martine never came back, her mum never admitted Sundance was a girl, her dad didn't suddenly decide not to hide Dixie and her mum from his 'real' family, and Mary was never saved. The hospital scene is her just after death
